Introducing the World’s First 4D Thermal Profiler: A New Era of Process Control and Reliability

In the fast-evolving world of electronics manufacturing, innovation is key to staying ahead. At SMCA Guadalajara 2024, Philip Stoughton sat down with Vitor Barros from iRaptor to discuss a groundbreaking product that is redefining the way manufacturers monitor and optimize their production processes.

The Birth of the 4D Unit

The development of iRaptor’s latest technology was a collaborative effort fueled by the team’s extensive industry experience. The result is the 4D Unit: a solution that brings a new dimension to process control and quality assurance.

Unlike conventional systems that only measure temperature over time, the 4D Unit integrates pyrometers to map the interior of machines and document their behavior from profile to profile. This 3D data is then enhanced with vibration measurements along the X, Y, and Z axes, adding the fourth dimension.

Why Vibration Matters

What sets this technology apart is its universality. The vibration measurement can be used independently of temperature data, making it suitable for a wide range of equipment beyond ovens, such as pick-and-place machines, AOIs, SPIs, conveyors, compressors, and vacuum machines.

This dual capability allows manufacturers to gain crucial insights into machine behavior and catch anomalies before they escalate into equipment failures or quality issues.

A Game-Changer for Quality Control and Traceability

By combining temperature profiling, pyrometer mapping, and vibration analysis, the 4D Unit offers a comprehensive picture of process conditions. This not only enhances quality control but also provides traceability and a valuable baseline for predictive maintenance.

Customers have responded positively, appreciating the ability to monitor trends and intervene before machines drift out of specification. This proactive approach reduces downtime, minimizes defects, and safeguards production efficiency.

Designed and Built in Portugal

Proudly made in Portugal, the 4D Unit embodies meticulous design and craftsmanship. Every detail, from the hardware to the software, has been carefully engineered to deliver a user-friendly experience without compromising on performance.

The intuitive interface simplifies operation for technicians, making the system accessible even to those already familiar with running temperature profiles.
